Anna Mary conquered Mount Kilimanjaro: A 13-year-old girl from Kerala has conquered Africa's highest peak Mount Kilimanjaro. With this, she has become one of the youngest women to have achieved this feat. 13-year-old Anna Mary is a resident of Cherthala in Kerala's Alappuzha district. Along with conquering Africa's highest peak Mount Kilimanjaro, she also demonstrated Taekwondo Poomse (patterns) and kicks at the peak.

Climbed Africa's highest peak

According to the information, Anna Mary along with her father Shine Varghese left from Cherthala on October 28. Mary described her journey as exciting. She said that we started climbing Mount Kilimanjaro on November 1. The Lemosho route was chosen due to its natural beauty and gradual climb, although it still had many challenges. Mary further said that we traveled 68 km in seven days to conquer the 18,885 feet high mountain. The journey included breathtaking landscapes including rainforest, marshland, alpine desert and awe-inspiring views of the peak. Mary further said that on November 7, I conquered the peak.

Anna Marie further said that one of the most thrilling moments was climbing the Baranco Wall, a natural rock formation that tested my climbing skills. "With a background in artificial wall climbing, I accepted the challenge and successfully crossed the steep climb. I also witnessed the stunning sunrise at Kilimanjaro and panoramic views of the African landscape," Marie said.

Mary has also visited Friendship Mount

It is worth noting that Anna Mary had conquered Mount Friendship in the Himalayas in the month of July this year. Sharing her experience, Mary said, "That's when I heard about Kilimanjaro. It fascinated me. Now my goal is to conquer the seven summits (the highest in each of the seven continents)."

Two Indians were climbing Kilimanjaro

Mary said that while climbing Kilimanjaro, there were many groups from different countries like America, Germany, Denmark, France, Switzerland and China. But there were only two Indians here. Mary's father Shine Varghese said that for this bravery, Mary has been named Simba by the local guides. Mary has been urging people to "get addicted to sports, not drugs". She always emphasizes the power of physical activity and healthy lifestyle. Mary's father Varghese and Mary's mother Preeti Maria Thomas are both IT professionals. Mary studies in class 8th in St. Mary's High School in Cherthala.
