A cyber attack took place in Japan early on Thursday morning. This cyber attack took place on the server of Japan's second largest airline company Japan Airlines. After this, Japan Airlines has stopped selling tickets.
Japan Airlines said on Thursday that some domestic and international flights may be delayed due to a cyber attack. The company also said it had temporarily shut down the router that caused the system to malfunction.
Ban on sale of tickets
Apart from this, the sale of tickets for flights departing on Thursday has also been stopped. This cyber attack took place at 7:24 am local time. This has affected both the internal and external systems of the company.
Another major Japanese airline, ANA Holdings, said that there were no signs of a cyber attack on its systems and that its services were operating smoothly. ANA Holdings is considered a rival of Japan Airlines.
Just before Christmas, American Airlines halted all its flights for an hour due to a technical problem with its network hardware. Thousands of passengers were affected by this.
There have been cyber attacks before
- This is not the first case of cyber attack on airline companies.
- Earlier in 2022, ransomware operator group Daixin Team claimed to have stolen the data of 50 lakh passengers of Air Asia.
- The hacker group released a sample of it and said that it also includes personal records of the company's employees.
- Air Asia is a famous airline company of Malaysia.
- In 2023, the website of Swedish airline company Scandinavian Airlines was also subjected to a cyber attack.
Air India was also attacked
In February 2021, Air India's server was also attacked by cyber attack. During this, data of about 45 lakh passengers was stolen. Air India had issued a statement in this regard in May 2021 and accepted the cyber attack.
At the same time, in February 2024, an attempt was made to launch a cyber attack on the internal computer system of the Indian Air Force. But the hackers were not successful in this. The hackers used open-source malware created with the help of Google's programming language for the cyber attack.
