Israel airstrikes Lebanon: Israeli airstrikes in various parts of Lebanon have caused massive destruction, killing dozens of people. 29 people were killed in an attack on a multi-storey residential building in the Basta area of central Beirut. This attack was one of the devastating incidents that shook the entire country.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said the airstrikes targeted 12 Hezbollah command centers in the Dahieh area south of Beirut. These included locations used by Hezbollah's intelligence unit, sea-launched missile unit, and Unit 4400, which operates weapons smuggling operations from Iran through Syria.
The IDF also said that these centers were used to plan and carry out terrorist attacks. Also, surveillance activities against the Israeli army in southern Lebanon were also being conducted from these bases.
Death toll and relief efforts
The Lebanese health ministry revised the death toll from 20 to dozens. Rescue teams continued to clear rubble and recover survivors. Heavy bombing in Basta caused extensive damage.
Attacks expand across the country
Beyond Beirut, Israeli airstrikes spread to the Baalbek-Hermel region of eastern Lebanon. One attack on Shamistar killed at least 13 people, including four children. Attacks in other nearby towns killed 11 more people, and injured 32. The southern Lebanese city of Tyre was also bombed, killing five people and wounding 19 others.
The conflict's growing impact
Israeli attacks since September have killed several Hezbollah commanders and caused severe damage to Lebanon's infrastructure. According to UN figures, more than 3,000 people have been killed and over one million displaced so far. These air strikes have devastated many parts of Lebanon, worsening the humanitarian crisis.
