Stale food is harmful for health, especially in summers because in this season food gets spoiled very quickly, but there are some dishes which taste even better after becoming stale and are also made from stale food. One such dish is Panta Bhaat. This famous dish of Bengal, Odisha and Assam is prepared from stale rice. Which is very tasty to eat and very beneficial for health. This is a fermented starch food. Which is easily digested and eating it does not increase obesity. Let's know the method of making it.

Panta Bhaat recipe

1 cup boiled rice, 1.5 cups water (Put the rice in water, cover it with a lid and leave it at room temperature overnight.)

To make Aloo Bharta

2 boiled potatoes, 1 tablespoon mustard oil, 2 dried red chilies, 1/2 onion finely chopped, 2 green chilies finely chopped, handful of coriander leaves, salt to taste

  • Heat oil in a pan. Add dried chilies to it.

To make Aloo Bhaja

1 tablespoon mustard oil, 1 teaspoon nigella seeds, 2 potatoes cut into thin slices, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric, salt to taste 

  • Heat oil in a pan. Add black cumin
  •  seeds and fry for a minute.
  • After this add chopped potatoes, turmeric, salt and cook on low flame.
  • Make the potatoes crispy. This makes them taste good.
  • Add onion and green chillies and fry for a few seconds. After this turn off the gas.

serve like this

Add one spoon of mustard oil and black salt as per taste to the rice that was soaked in water. After this, add half a long chopped onion. Also, one small finely chopped green chilli. Add a handful of green coriander on top. Serve potato bharta and potato bhaja with it. Enjoy this tasty meal. 

  • Mash the boiled potatoes. After this, add green chillies and green coriander to it.
  • Add onion and dried chillies which were cooked in oil and mix everything.
  • Make small balls of these.
