New York: The Consulate General of India in New York has termed the reports of ban on OCI cardholders from entering India as rumors. The Consulate General tweeted, "We have seen reports spreading false information that restrictions have been imposed on OCI cardholders in recent days. Friends of the Indian American community are informed that no new changes have been made in this. The provisions of the Gazette Notification of March 4, 2021 regarding the rights of OCI cardholders will remain in force.''
Let us tell you that the current provision on OCI card holders is that if an Indian OCI card holder acquires citizenship of any other country except Pakistan and Bangladesh, then he will also be allowed to enter India, provided he has a lifetime U visa sticker of India on his old passport. Also, a new passport of the recently acquired nationality should also be present. But recently, rumors came out on social media and some media that India is now banning OCI card holders. That is, OCI card holders will no longer be able to enter India. But the Indian Consulate has completely rejected these fears.
