Apulia (Canada). Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian PM Justin Trudeau met at the G7 summit in Italy. After this meeting, Trudeau's tone regarding relations with India has changed. Justin Trudeau said that when Canada will chair the G7 summit next year, he will have a lot to say to India.

He said that Canada's relations with India are improving and both countries are committed to working together on important issues. Trudeau said this in a press conference on the last day of the three-day G7 summit in Italy.

Speaking to reporters, he praised the eagerness of Canadians to look forward to the G-7 summit. Trudeau said he is looking forward to working with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and all G-7 partners on the various issues they have discussed.

When asked if Canada would invite PM Modi to the G7 summit in 2025, Trudeau replied, "I can appreciate that Canadians are looking forward to next year's G7. However, Italy will remain the G7 presidency for the rest of this year and I look forward to working with Prime Minister Meloni and all my G7 partners on the broad range of issues we have discussed. I will have more to say about next year's G7 when we take over the presidency of the G7 next year."

The 2025 summit will be held in Kananaskici, Alberta, Canada. This year, the G-7 summit was held in Italy's Apulia region from June 13-15, with India invited as an 'outreach country' and attended by seven member states, the US, the UK, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan and France, as well as the European Union.

“Just announced: The next G7 Leaders’ Summit will be held in 2025 here in Canada, in Kananaskis, Alberta,” the Canadian PM said in a post on X.

Trudeau's statement came after he met PM Modi on the sidelines of the summit in Apulia, Italy on Friday. The meeting between the two leaders was the first between India and Canada amid strained diplomatic ties. In a post on X, PM Modi said, "Met Canadian PM Justin Trudeau on the sidelines of the G7 Summit."
