Washington: The US and India are expanding their ties in the space sector. NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said that he will conduct joint missions with Indian astronauts on the International Space Station.

Talks were held between India and America

His statement came after the conclusions of the meeting between US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and Indian counterpart Ajit Doval on the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (ISET). In this, the two countries discussed a strategic framework for human space flight cooperation to deepen relations in space and NASA is working towards starting advanced training for ISRO astronauts at the Johnson Space Center.

In this case, this is the first joint effort of NASA and ISRO

This is the first joint effort between NASA and ISRO astronauts on the International Space Station, a milestone in India-US space partnership and space exploration. NASA will cooperate in training two Indian astronauts. One of them will fly to the International Space Station (ISS) later this year.

What did the Chairman of ISRO say?

ISRO Chairman S Somanath had earlier said that ISRO will likely select four astronauts for training. The two countries are also preparing for the launch of the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar, a jointly developed satellite. It will map the entire surface of the Earth twice every 12 days as part of efforts to tackle climate change and other global challenges.
