Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024: Before the distribution of tickets in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, various Muslim organizations raised their voices loudly for the representation of Muslims. These organizations lobbied the political parties, especially the Maha Vikas Aghadi, to give tickets to the leaders of the Muslim community on Muslim-dominated seats. According to a report published in the Indian Express, Maharashtra's 1.3 crore Muslims constitute 11.56 percent of the state's total population of 11.24 crore. Out of the 288 assembly seats in the state, there are 38 assembly seats where Muslims represent at least 20 percent of the population. Among these, there are 9 seats where the Muslim population is more than 40 percent.
There are 10 seats in Mumbai where Muslims constitute more than 25 percent of the population. In the last Lok Sabha elections , a large number of minority votes were received by Mahavikas Aghadi.

According to a report published in Times of India, Mumbai's Mankhurd-Shivajinagar assembly seat has 53 percent Muslim population. Mumbadevi has 50.9 percent, Byculla has 41.05 percent, Dharavi has 33.05 percent, Versova has 33.05 percent, Bandra East has 33.01 percent, Malad West has 27.07 percent, Andheri West has 27.01 percent and Bandra West has 25.03 percent Muslim population. Among these, there are many seats on which Muslim voters decide victory and defeat.
How many Muslim candidates won in which year?
According to Indian Express, 11 Muslim candidates won in Maharashtra in 1962, 9 in 1967, 13 in 1972, 11 in 1978, 13 in 1980, 10 in 1985, 7 in 1990, 8 in 1995, 13 in 1999, 11 in 2004, 11 in 2009, 9 in 2014 and 10 Muslim candidates won in the 2019 assembly elections.
