Hospitals in Bengal and Tripura have closed their doors for Bangladeshi patients. JN Roy Hospital located in Maniktala, Kolkata has stopped treating Bangladeshi citizens indefinitely. This step has been taken by the hospital in protest against the atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh and the arrest of former ISKCON chief Chinmay Krishna Das.

Bengal minister Firhad Hakim opposed the decision

Hospital official Shubhranshu Bhakt said, "We will not admit any Bangladeshi citizen here from now on. This is a protest against the atrocities being committed against the minority Hindus in Bangladesh and the disrespect being shown towards our country." However, Bengal's Urban Development Minister and Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim have opposed the hospital's decision.

India is a popular destination for patients from Bangladesh

He said that it is not right to not treat sick people. It is the duty of doctors to treat patients. Agartala's Multi Specialty Healthcare has also announced not to treat patients from Bangladesh. This hospital has been a popular destination for patients from Bangladesh due to its proximity and cheap treatment.

The hospital said that due to atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh and insult to the national flag, we have decided not to treat patients from there. The hospital's Chief Operating Officer Gautam Hazarika said that we fully support the demand to suspend the treatment of people coming from Bangladesh in our health center. Our help desks at Akhaura check post and hospital have been closed from today.

BJP MP demanded to take away Nobel medal

Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay, BJP MP from Tamluk Lok Sabha seat of Bengal and former judge of Calcutta High Court, has demanded to take away the Nobel medal from Mohammad Yunus, the chief advisor of the interim government in Bangladesh. He said that Mohammad Yunus had received the Nobel Peace Prize.

Their government is not doing anything to stop the unrest that is currently going on in Bangladesh. In view of this, the Nobel Committee should take away the Nobel from them. Justice Gangopadhyay also said that he does not know whether there is a provision to take back the Nobel in special circumstances or not.
