The Indian government introduced a historic healthcare initiative on February 3, 2025 through its comprehensive ₹30,000 crore rural development strategy. Rural healthcare facilities received a major expansion through the National Rural Health Mission which focused on improving hospitals while building new primary healthcare centers to enhance medical services for all rural residents. 

Focus Areas: 

The plan involves building 3,000 new primary health centers (PHCs) in rural areas separate from the modernization of more than 10,000 existing healthcare facilities throughout rural territories. The upgrade of healthcare facilities throughout rural areas aims to provide necessary medical services at a 15-minute walking distance to every rural community. 

The strategy will achieve its goal by creating new recruitment incentives for healthcare workers to practice in rural areas while building their professional capacity. 

Rural Health Challenges:
