Uttarakhand News Today: A case of large-scale fraud has come to light in the recruitment of 1200 posts of Branch Post Master and Assistant Branch Post Master through the Postal Department in Uttarakhand. Most of the candidates in this recruitment are from Punjab, Haryana and other states, while the local youth of the state did not get a place in the merit list.
During investigation it was found that many such candidates have been selected who do not even have basic knowledge of Hindi, yet they have been appointed to the post of postman.
Disclosure of fake selection:
So far, in the initial investigation of the department, the documents of six candidates have been found suspicious, against whom a case has been registered. Taking these cases seriously, the Postal Department has ordered the investigation of the documents of all the selected candidates. According to the Postal Department, if in future also the information of any candidate is found to be fake, then strict action will be taken against them.
Selection of those who do not know Hindi
It has come to light during the recruitment process that many such candidates have been selected who do not even know how to read or write Hindi. For example, a candidate who passed 10th from Haryana Board has been given A++ grade in all subjects including Hindi, while he does not even know how to write common Hindi words.
When the Uttarakhand Postal Department inspector met the Haryana Board officials and sought information on this fraud, the board shrugged it off by saying that the student has been given marks on the basis of his academic background.
Rigging in the merit list
The merit list for the postal servant post is prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the board examination. Due to this, many candidates from outside states made it to the merit list, while the local youth of Uttarakhand suffered because of this.
Due to his low marks, he could not make it to the merit list. This incident has angered the youth of the state. Candidates are raising the question that how did the outside candidates who did not know Hindi get selected while they were ignored.
Involvement of fraud gang?
This matter became more serious when recently Uttar Pradesh Police exposed a Meerut gang which was involved in fraud in the recruitment examination of the Postal Department. 13 members of this gang have been arrested.
Investigation revealed that this gang may also be connected to the selected candidates of Uttarakhand. The documents of many candidates selected in Uttarakhand have been found suspicious and it is feared that a big network is working in this fraud.
Departmental investigation ordered:
The Postal Department has currently filed a case against three candidates selected from Chamoli and Almora. Departmental officials say that the documents of all the selected candidates will be thoroughly investigated.
The department said that no wrong candidate will be allowed to be selected. Uttarakhand Postal Services Director Anasuya Prasad Chamola said that fraud in the recruitment process will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken against the culprits.
Anger among local youth
The local youth of the state are angry about this recruitment process. They are raising questions as to how candidates from outside states were given priority even though they were proving to be ineligible. Local youth say that if the recruitment process was transparent, their names would have also come in the merit list.
The Postal Department has expedited the further scrutiny and has started the process of document verification of all the selected candidates to ensure that no ineligible person is selected through fraud in the state.
