Muzaffarnagar Police of Uttar Pradesh has busted a robber bride gang and arrested seven people. A large quantity of looted gold and silver jewellery and cash has been recovered from the accused. The accused are being interrogated.
This gang was exposed by the police after the complaint of Badal, a resident of Khedi Dudadhari village of Titavi police station in the district. He was married to Nikki, a resident of Udham Singh, Uttarakhand, on March 1. But on the very night of the wedding, the robber bride ran away with all the household items.
In this case, a written complaint was given by the victim's family at Titavi police station. After this, the police registered a case against the accused under sections 380, 406 and 420 of the IPC. Police have arrested seven members of the gang.
These include robber bride Nikki and her gang Asha, Omwati, Krishna, Nanhe, Irshad and Kavita. During police interrogation, the accused said that they had made many people their victims in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Till now these people were not caught by the police.
According to the police, the people of the Lutri Dulhan gang used to trap the needy people in their net. Used to get him married to Nikki. She used to run away on the wedding night itself, collecting all the household belongings. Other gang members helped him from marriage to escape.
Regarding this incident, SP Rural Aditya Bansal said that a robber bride gang has been busted by Titawi police station. This gang used to work specially. He used to trap people and loot them.
SP Rural Aditya Bansal further said that some of the gang members used to become relatives with Nikki's mother, some father, and some brother. After this, the marriage was conducted with great pomp and show as per customs and traditions. The girl was given a proper farewell.
After going to her in-laws' house, on the wedding night itself, the robber bride cleans her house and runs away with the help of her gang. A complaint regarding a similar incident was received at Titavi police station on March 1. After this, the police investigated and arrested the gang members.
According to the police, when the criminal history of these accused was scrutinized, it was found that they were also involved in cases of robbery and bike theft. Their interrogation revealed that they had performed fake marriages in many districts of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
They used to target their prey manually. Some would come as mediators and trap people who wanted marriage. Let us tell you that many cases of robber brides have come to light in West UP, Haryana and Rajasthan.
