UP Electricity Bill: Electricity prices may increase in Uttar Pradesh. The public may get this shock in the new financial year. According to a media report, the Electricity Corporation has submitted the draft on the evening of 30 November. According to this, a loss of about 12800 thousand crores to 13 thousand crores has been shown. If the commission approves this draft, then the electricity rates in UP can increase by 15 to 20 percent.
According to the report of Hindi newspaper Amar Ujala, the draft of Annual Revenue Requirement (ARR) for the year 2025-26 has been submitted by the Electricity Corporations to the Regulatory Commission on the evening of 30 November. If the Commission approves this draft, then the revenue in UP can increase by about 15 to 20 percent. Last year, the draft of annual revenue requirement submitted by the Electricity Corporation had stated a deficit of Rs 11 thousand crores. In the draft submitted for 2023-24, an annual requirement of about 92547 crores was stated.
According to the draft given to the Electricity Regulatory Commission, the requirement of 16 thousand crore units of electricity was stated for 2025-26. At the same time, a gap of about 12800 to 13 thousand crores has also been shown in the ARR of 2025-26, in which the cost of purchasing electricity is being said to be between about 92 thousand to 95 thousand crores.

On this entire issue, the President of the Consumer Council, Awadhesh Kumar Verma, alleged, "In the ARR filed, no proposal has been made for reduction in electricity rates in lieu of Rs. 33122 crore outstanding to consumers from the corporations. The Consumer Council announced that a protest motion will be filed in the Regulatory Commission regarding the filing of the secret proposal by the corporation."
