Waqf Amendment Bill: Discussion on the Waqf Amendment Bill began in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday (2 April). Opposition parties are opposing it unanimously. On the other hand, the ruling party says that this will benefit poor Muslims. During the discussion, there was a conflict between Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena and Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT).
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant called it against the Constitution. While Eknath Shinde 's son and Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde supported the bill and said that they (UBT) should ask their conscience if Balasaheb was here, would he have been able to give a speech here.
This was an opportunity to correct mistakes - Shrikant Shinde
Kalyan MP Shrikant Shinde said, "This was an opportunity to correct mistakes, to take care of our history, to keep the ideology alive. Balasaheb Thackeray had once started a movement for this. But unfortunately the UBT people first bulldozed this ideology. Balasaheb's ideology was clear. Protection of Hinduism, unity of the country and respect for people of other religions."
taunt on green jacket
Shinde took a jibe at Sawant and said, "Did he wear the green jacket for Wednesday or because the Waqf bill was to come?" He said, “Today he has started getting allergic to Hindus too. He is advocating for the person who killed Chhatrapati Shivaji.”
He said, "This bill has been renamed as UMEED, it is not just a word, it is the essence of the law. This is not for votes, it is work for the country. This bill has been brought to bring transparency, so they are having a stomachache. Indi alliance (India alliance) is opposing it, but there will not be any CM who has not investigated the corruption of Waqf."
What did Arvind Sawant say?
Opposing the bill, South Mumbai MP Arvind Sawant said that unfortunately those who did nothing for the independence of this country are running the government. If you try to bring a non-Hindu to our temple, Shiv Sena will oppose it. He said that you have something else in mind, you want to grab the land.
