Washington: US President Joe Biden has made a big statement on Israeli attacks against Iran. He said that his administration is discussing possible Israeli attacks on Iran's oil plants. He also said that no Israeli attack on Iran is expected on Thursday.
Israel is not expected to retaliate
Responding to a question on whether he was in favour of Israel attacking Iranian oil plants, the US President said, "We are discussing it." Oil prices jumped 5 per cent on Thursday after his remarks. He further indicated that no possible Israeli retaliation to Iran's Tuesday missile attack is expected on Thursday.
The rise in oil prices can be extremely damaging for Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as oil prices are a major issue in the November 5 elections. Which has been raised mainly by Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump.
Earlier, when reporters asked Biden if he would allow Israel to retaliate against Iran on nuclear sites, Joe Biden said on Wednesday that he would not support Israel attacking Iranian nuclear sites.
Iran fired nearly 200 rockets on Israel in a direct missile attack on Tuesday, prompting Netanyahu to warn that Tehran would pay a price. Iran said it was revenge for the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
