Now its director has spoken openly about its failure. Director Amar Kaushik, who gave a hit film like Stree, appeared in Komal Nahta's podcast 'Game Changers'. During this, he talked about some of his successful and unsuccessful films. He accepted that the release timing and creative decisions were responsible for the flop of Bhediya.
Got competition from Ajay Devgan's film
It is usually seen that the clash of two films at the box office proves bad for one of them. At the time of Bhediya's release, Ajay Devgan's Drishyam 2 was released, which cinema lovers were eagerly waiting for. Regarding this, director Amar Kaushik said, 'There were two things behind the poor performance of the film, which I also understood later. Just like Stree 2's release happened with two other films, similarly Bhediya's release happened with Drishyam 2, which was already in a lot of discussion and everyone was going to watch it.'
The director regrets the creative decision of Bhediya
Director Amar Kaushik believes that people did not like the climax of Bhediya very much. Regarding this, he said, 'I tried to make the climax a little different. Instead of focusing on the love story of the hero and heroine, I made both of them animals. This was done intentionally. One option I had was to make Varun a human and make him fight, but then the secret of him being a wolf would have been revealed to everyone, which would have made making a sequel a little difficult.
Bhediya got the love of people on OTT
In the same interview, Amar Kaushik told that the film earned less than his expectations, but it got a good response on the OTT platform. He feels that if it was made in a slightly different way, the film would have received a lot of love from the people. Amar Kaushik is now going to return with Bhediya 2. After this, Stree 3 and many other films of horror-comedy genre are also in the pipeline.
