Karnataka Dengue Cases There is a steady increase in dengue cases in Karnataka. Due to the rapidly increasing cases, the Siddaramaiah government has also come into action mode and has declared dengue as an 'epidemic disease'.

 

Action will be taken against those who do not follow the rules

Along with this, the government has also given strict instructions to the officials to punish those who do not follow the rules. Action will also be taken against those who fail to take measures to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes.

 

Amendments to Epidemic Diseases Regulation

The government has also introduced amendments to the Karnataka Epidemic Diseases Regulation 2020, ordering people to be more responsible in preventing the spread of vector-borne diseases. The amendments propose penalties in three categories - domestic, commercial and active construction sectors.

 

Fine up to Rs 2000 for not following the rules 

  • For houses in urban and rural areas, the government has imposed a fine of Rs 400 and Rs 200, respectively. For commercial work, the fine will be Rs 1,000 in urban areas and Rs 500 in rural areas.
  • Owners of active construction areas providing mosquito breeding sites will be fined Rs 2,000 in urban areas and Rs 1,000 in rural areas.

 

These rules have to be followed

As per the rules, it is mandatory for owners and occupiers of domestic buildings to take necessary measures to prevent mosquito breeding. According to the notification, people should ensure that water storage containers, sumps or overhead tanks are covered or secured with a lid or any other material to prevent mosquito breeding.
