Dengue continues to wreak havoc across the country. Recently, in view of the increasing cases of this disease in Karnataka, it has been declared an epidemic. At the same time, news of deaths due to this disease has started coming in the country's capital Delhi and the cases are also increasing continuously. In such a situation, it is very important to keep some things in mind to prevent this disease (Dengue Prevention Tips). Dengue is a serious disease, which spreads due to mosquito bites. If it is not identified in time, it can prove to be serious in many cases.

In such a situation, to know more about this disease and to find out the reason for its increasing cases, we spoke to Muzammil Sultan Koka, Senior Registrar, Department of Critical Care Medicine, Maringo Asia Hospital, Gurgaon. Let's see what the doctors think about the increasing cases of dengue-

Why are dengue cases increasing-

Doctors say that dengue outbreaks are triggered by the bite of Aedes mosquitoes, especially Aedes aegypti, which are found in hot, humid places. The virus spreads rapidly (Dengue Causes) due to things like stagnant water, poor waste management and inadequate mosquito control methods. The number of mosquito breeding sites increases during the monsoon season, which increases their transmission rate rapidly. Along with this, urbanization and increasing population are also the reason for the increasing cases of dengue.

Take care of yourself and your loved ones in these ways

  • To protect yourself and your loved ones from dengue, do not allow mosquitoes to breed around you.
  • For this, keep all utensils or containers in which mosquitoes can breed covered.
  • If there is water accumulation somewhere around the house, empty it immediately.
  • Use insect repellents to destroy mosquito breeding grounds.
  • Wear covered, long-sleeved clothing in the morning and evening, when mosquitoes are most active.
  • Install screens or mosquito nets on windows and doors.
  • If you notice symptoms like high fever, headache and joint problems (Dengue Symptoms), consult a doctor immediately.
