The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that as Cyclone Fengal approached the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu, many coastal areas experienced weather changes, including high tides and rain. According to the IMD, Cyclone Fengal is expected to hit the coast tomorrow evening. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts.

 

The IMD said that Cyclone Fengal, located over southwest Bay of Bengal, has moved north-northwestwards at a speed of 7 km/h during the past six hours. The cyclone is very likely to continue moving west-northwestwards and cross north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram near Puducherry, during this period as a cyclonic storm with wind speed of 70-80 km/h gusting to 90 km/h.
