
New Delhi. The condition of government hospitals in the country is getting worse day by day. A report has come out from the government regarding the hospitals. According to the report, 80% of the government hospitals in the country do not even have basic facilities.
There are more than two lakh public health facilities including district hospitals, sub-district hospitals, community health centers, primary health centers and Ayushman Arogya Mandir (erstwhile sub health centers), which come under the government's flagship scheme NHM (National Health Mission). Let us tell you that out of more than 2 lakh hospitals coming under NHM, only 40,451 hospitals have given their information to the government.
Only 8,089 hospitals have basic facilities
When scoring was done on the basis of shared data, out of 40,451 hospitals, only 8,089 hospitals met the standards of IPHS. The government has made all this information public on the IPHS dashboard. According to the report, only 8,089 hospitals have the necessary facilities for the treatment of patients. Only these hospitals have doctors, nurses, medicines and equipment. According to the report, 42% of the hospitals scored less than 50% marks under IPHS. Whereas the remaining 15,172 hospitals got marks between 50 to 80%.
For information, let us tell you that 60 percent of the expenses of the hospitals under NHM is borne by the Central Government, while the remaining 40 percent expenses are borne by the state governments.
70,000 government hospitals will be built under IPHS
For information, let us tell you that the central government's target is that within 100 days of the formation of the new government, 70,000 government hospitals will be built under the standards of IPHS (Indian Public Health Standards). Meanwhile, a senior official has claimed that they are giving full help to the states to improve the hospitals. He has said, 'Our aim is to bring better facilities for the treatment of patients in government hospitals'.
The official also said that NQAS assessment of community health centres, district hospitals, and primary health centres will be done as before.
