Chhath Mahaparva has special significance in Sanatan Dharma. People celebrate this festival with great enthusiasm. The fast is observed methodically for the long life and good health of the children. During this fast, special attention is paid to cleanliness and purity. It is a religious belief that by observing the fast, the person gets children. One should avoid using silver, steel and plastic utensils to make the prasad of Chhath Puja (Chhath Puja 2024 Vrat). Instead, use earthen stoves and utensils. When is Chhath Puja 2024 (Chhath Puja Date and Time)

According to the Vedic calendar, evening offering is made on the sixth day of the Shukla Paksha of Kartik month . In such a situation, if the festival of Diwali is celebrated on 31 October in Bihar, then Chhath Puja will be celebrated on 6 November (Chhath Puja Shubh Muhurat). If the festival of Diwali is celebrated on 1 November in Bihar, then Chhath Mahaparva will be celebrated on 7 November.

 

Keep these things in mind during Chhath Puja (Chhath Puja Vrat Niyam)

  • If you are observing Chhath fast, do not consume anything before offering arghya to the Sun God. Apart from this, the fasting person should sleep on the ground.
  • The person observing the fast should wear clean clothes. Tamasic food and meat and alcohol should not be consumed.
  • Do not touch the materials of Chhath Puja with dirty or unclean hands.
  • Do not argue with anyone during the fast.
  • Bamboo baskets should be used during the Puja. During the worship of Sun God, the Puja material is placed in the basket and offered to him.
  • Chhath Puja is the only festival when arghya is offered to the setting sun, because in Sanatan Dharma, arghya is offered to the rising sun.
