Singapore. Singapore is witnessing a new wave of Covid. Officials have recorded more than 25,900 cases from May 5 to 11. Health Minister Ong Ye Kung on Saturday appealed to people to wear masks.The minister said that we are in the initial part of the wave, where it is increasing continuously. It is estimated that it will peak in the next two to four weeks. This time will be between mid and end of June.

The number of patients being admitted is increasing

The number of daily hospitalisations of COVID-19 patients has risen from 181 a week ago to nearly 250. ICU admissions are now one in three, compared to two in two last week.

What did the Health Ministry say?

The Health Ministry said that in order to maintain hospital bed capacity, public hospitals should reduce their non-urgent elective surgery cases and send home those patients who can be treated at home.
