Chamoli News: The victim's father, a resident of Nandangad Ghat in Chamoli, lodged a complaint in Nandanagar police station on September 1 that on August 22, 2024, when the same minor daughter had gone to a clothes shop in Nandanagar market to shop, while returning from the shop, a young man named Arif Khan, son of Hashim Khan, who works at a salon shop in Nandanagar market, followed her and made obscene gestures and obscene acts with her. Arif Khan is 26 years old and he is a resident of village Sofatpur, police station Nangal, Bijnor district, Uttar Pradesh.

According to the police, the father of the victim girl told that the youth had earlier also done obscene acts with his daughter. On the basis of the complaint, the police have registered a case against the accused Arif Khan in Nandanagar police station under section 79 BNS and section 11(1)/12 of the Sexual Offenses Act. The police said that since the case was related to a woman and a minor, Superintendent of Police Chamoli Sarvesh Panwar took serious cognizance of the case and formed a police team under the leadership of SHO Sanjay Negi for the immediate arrest of the accused. The police arrested the named accused Arif Khan in this case from Bijnor (Uttar Pradesh) on the night of September 1.
