This time the Chaturthi and Panchami Tithi of Navratri will be worshipped on the same day. Talking about their form, Lord Skanda is sitting in the lap of the mother in child form. The goddess has four arms, out of which the right upper arm is holding Lord Skanda in her lap and the right lower arm is holding a lotus. Mother Skanda is also known as Gauri, Maheshwari, Parvati and Uma.
On the fifth day of Navratri, Skandmata's blessings are obtained by worshipping her. It is also believed that by worshipping Skandmata in a proper manner, a childless person can get the happiness of having a child. So let's read the mantras for worshipping Skandmata.
Why did he take the form of Skandmata (Maa Skandmata Ki Katha)
According to the ancient legend, a demon named Tarakasur had received a boon from Brahma Ji that he would die only at the hands of Lord Shiva's child. The terror of Tarakasur had increased a lot. In this situation, Mother Parvati took the form of Skandamata and started preparing her son Skanda i.e. Kartikeya for the war. After receiving the training of war from Skandamata, Kartikeya killed Tarakasur.
