Every year Navratri is celebrated from Pratipada Tithi to Navami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra and Ashwin month. Mangala Gauri Temple is located in Gaya district of Bihar. Gaya is famous all over the world for its religious heritage. There are many major religious places in Gaya. Vishnupad Temple , Mahabodhi Temple and Mangala Gauri Temple are famous among them. Lord Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree in Gaya. Lord Buddha did hard penance sitting under the Bodhi tree. At that time, he imparted the teachings and initiation of knowledge to the people present.

 

It is mentioned in Vishnu Purana that Buddha's city is called Gaya after the name of demon Gayasur . Pleased with the devotion of Gayasur, Lord Vishnu gave the boon that Lord Vishnu will stay in Gayasur for eternity. He also gave the boon that the person who will perform tarpan and pinddaan of his ancestors in Gaya with devotion, his dead ancestors will attain salvation. Mangala Gauri temple is in this holy city. This temple is situated on Bhasmkut mountain.

 

Story of Mangala Gauri Temple Shaktipeeth

It is mentioned in Sanatan scriptures that in ancient times, Lord Mahadev, the God of Gods, was married to Mata Sati. King Daksha was not happy with this marriage. Because of this, Lord Shiva's relationship with his in-laws was very bitter. Once upon a time, when King Daksha organized a yagya at his residence, Lord Shiva was not invited to this yagya. When Mata Sati came to know about the yagya, she expressed her desire to go to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva advised her not to go. With a humble request, he allowed Maa Sati to go, but said that he himself would not go.
