CIA employee Asif William Rehman in the US was leaking information related to the Israeli attack on Iran. The court has convicted him in this case. He was found guilty on charges of knowingly maintaining and sharing defense information.
Rehman has admitted to illegally downloading, printing and distributing classified content on several occasions in 2024. It is being told that this CIA employee was leaking information related to the Israeli attack on Iran. He removed five documents from his computer which were labeled secret and top secret, then he took them home.
Two US intelligence documents included
The intelligence obtained from the US satellite included two US intelligence documents dated October 15 and 16. These documents were originally limited to the Five Eyes intelligence-sharing alliance (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the US). However, these documents appeared on the pro-Iran Telegram channel Middle East Spectator.
He then reproduced and modified them and shared them with people who were not legally entitled to receive them.
The documents presented
Rahman deleted his activity from his electronic devices, brought the records back to work and shredded them. The second time, in the fall of 2024, court filings said he produced another 10 documents marked Top Secret, took them home and shared them with others.
Statement by Middle East Spectator
The Middle East Spectator has denied any direct connection to the leak. They said, 'We believe it [the leak] came from a whistleblower within the US State Department.'
This leak has raised serious questions about the security measures of the US and the Five Eyes alliance. Apart from this, the leak of this information in the tense situation between Iran and Israel is also a matter of concern for regional security.
