Junior doctors in Kolkata continue their protest in Lalbazar area. They are demanding justice for the female doctor who was raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Meanwhile, CBI has arrested former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Dr. Sandip Ghosh in financial irregularities. Ghosh is accused of passing medical students in exchange for money, favouritism in tenders and illegal sale of medical waste.
Ghosh was arrested on the 26th day
The CBI had started investigating the case by registering a case on the orders of the High Court on 24 August. Dr. Ghosh has been arrested on the 26th day of the murder of the woman doctor.
Action was taken on their complaint
Former Deputy Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Akhtar Ali had filed a petition in the High Court. He had appealed to get the financial irregularities investigated by the ED. Meanwhile, the West Bengal government had formed an SIT to investigate the corruption case. However, later the High Court handed over the investigation to the CBI
