
Uttarakhand News: If you have some important work related to the bank left, then finish them soon, because this month the bank will be closed for four days. The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has announced a two-day strike on March 24 and 25. Apart from this, banks will already be closed for two days due to March 22 being the fourth Saturday and March 23 being Sunday. In such a situation, bank customers will have to remain deprived of banking services for four days.
UFBU convenor and All India Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC) president Indra Singh Rawat announced the strike during a press conference in Dehradun on Tuesday, March 18. He said that nine major bank unions have decided to go on strike on March 24 and 25.
Bank employees will protest for their main demands, which mainly include-
- Job Security: To ensure job security of bank employees.
- Ban on outsourcing: Outsourcing of temporary jobs in banks should be stopped.
- Adequate recruitment: Demand for recruitment of adequate number of staff in bank branches to provide satisfactory service to the customers.
- Five Day Banking: Demand to implement five day working week as is done in RBI, insurance companies and government offices.
During the press conference, UFBU convenor Indra Singh Rawat said that public sector banks across the country provide services to lakhs of people on a daily basis. In such a situation, due to shortage of employees, customers are not getting proper service. He said that for the last decade, adequate recruitment of employees is not being done in banks, due to which there is excessive workload on the existing staff.
