
The Delhi government has announced major changes in the field of smart governance, emergency services, justice system and employment in the budget for 2025-26. With the mantra of 'Perform, Reform and Transform', this budget is an important step towards giving fast, transparent and effective administration to the capital.
Emergency services will get a big improvement-
• A state-of-the-art "Emergency Operation Center (EOC)" will be built for integrated emergency services in Delhi, where all emergency services will be available on a single number. A budget of ₹30 crore has been kept for this.
• To further strengthen the Delhi Fire Service, 100 small fire engines will be deployed, so that fire incidents in narrow streets and crowded areas can be controlled quickly.
• 17 water bowsers, high-tech fire towers, hazmat vans and aerial ladder platforms will be purchased at a cost of ₹110 crore, so that better arrangements can be made for fire prevention.
• The number of home guards in Delhi will be increased to 25,000, which will help Delhi Police and other departments.
Judicial reforms and expansion of courts-
• To further strengthen the judicial system in Delhi, 200 new court rooms will be built at a cost of ₹490 crores, which will expedite the hearing of pending cases.
• The Delhi government and the High Court will jointly increase the number of POCSO courts (special courts for cases related to children) and special NDPS courts will be set up for cases related to narcotics.
• A budget of ₹927 crores has been kept for judicial reform schemes, which will make the functioning of the court digital and modern.
• A hybrid court system will be implemented at a cost of ₹200 crores, which will provide the option of both online and physical hearing.
New schemes for employment and workers
• To provide employment to unemployed youth, the Delhi government will organize job fairs, for which a budget of ₹ 2 crore has been kept.
• A 'Welfare Board' will be formed at a cost of ₹ 10 crore for the welfare of gig and platform workers, domestic workers, auto-taxi drivers.
• 'Delhi 311 App' will be launched, through which citizens will be able to send their complaints directly to the concerned department. A budget of ₹ 15 crore has been proposed for this.
Promotion of youth and innovation
• A budget of ₹10 crore has been kept under the 'CM Young Visionary Innovation Program', which will promote new ideas in various fields.
• A new society will be formed for the rehabilitation of prisoners under the Delhi Jail Department, through which prisoners will get the benefit of skill development programs.
• Study and survey work will be started to shift Tihar Jail to another place, for which a budget of ₹10 crore has been proposed.
• A plan of ₹20 crore has been made for the renovation and improvement of the Lampur Detention Center.
