Bhishma Ashtami is celebrated every year in the month of Magha. This festival is celebrated on the death anniversary of the great character or warrior of Mahabharata, Bhishma Pitamah. On this auspicious date, Bhishma Pitamah, resting on a bed of arrows, sacrificed his life. Hence, Bhishma Ashtami is celebrated every year on the Ashtami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Magha month.

Bhishma Ashtami Shubh Muhurat

According to the Panchang, the Ashtami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Magh month will start on 05 February at 02:30 am. At the same time, the Ashtami Tithi of Shukla Paksha will end on 06 February at 12:35 am. Bhishma Ashtami will be celebrated on 05 February as per the calculation of Udaya Tithi. The time of Ekodishta Shradh on this day is from 11:30 am to 01:41 pm.

 

Bhishma Ashtami Shubh Yoga

There is a combination of Shukla and Brahma Yoga on the day of Bhishma Ashtami. On this auspicious occasion, there is also a combination of Sarvarth Siddhi Yoga, Ravi Yoga and Bhadravas. By performing Tarpan and Ekodishta Shraddha of ancestors in these yogas, ancestors will attain salvation.
