Hapur News: If you are shopping in the market on the festival of Diwali, then be careful! It may happen that your valuables get stolen while shopping. In UP's Hapur district, the police have arrested two such women who used to steal people's goods and money by taking advantage of the crowd in the markets. The police have recovered gold and silver jewellery worth about eight lakh rupees, Rs 8300 cash and eight mobile phones from their possession.
Additional Superintendent of Police Hapur Vineet Bhatnagar said that Pilkhuwa police of Hapur was constantly receiving complaints that people were getting their belongings stolen while shopping in the market. Some complained of their gold jewellery being stolen, while others complained of mobile phones and money being stolen. After receiving many complaints, the police became active and formed a police team to search for the thieves. They started searching for them.
Two women thieves arrested
In this sequence, the police got a big success on Sunday and the police arrested two women from Pilkhuwa market. The ASP told that the police have recovered gold and silver jewellery worth eight lakh rupees from the possession of the arrested women. Apart from this, cash and 8 mobile phones have been seized. During interrogation, the arrested women revealed their names as Rekha, wife of Sanjay, resident of New Bhim Nagar, Hapur and Kela, wife of Prempal, resident of New Bhim Nagar, Hapur.
ASP said that during interrogation, the women told that they used to first do a recce of the people coming to the market for shopping and then as soon as they were going back in a bus, e-rickshaw or auto, they used to sit as passengers and steal people's belongings as soon as they got a chance on the way. ASP said that interrogation is also being done about other women involved in this gang. The arrested women are being sent to jail by the police.
