The 10 day long fair of the world famous Dargah of Sufi Saint Haji Waris Ali Shah Deva Sharif in Barabanki has begun.
This fair has been held for hundreds of years in the memory of Haji Waris Ali Shah's father Syed Qurban Ali. Pilgrims from different parts of the country come to Deva Sharif Dargah and pay obeisance at the shrine.
From animals to everything you need, you will find everything you want to buy at the Deva Sharif fair.
Barabanki District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar along with his wife Dr Supriya Kumari inaugurated the fair by cutting the ribbon and releasing a dove, a symbol of peace.
DM Barabanki said that the fair is being organized from October 18 to October 27. Many artisans from the country and the state have come to the fair.
Deva Nagar Panchayat chairman Haroon Warsi said that this fair is held in the memory of Syed Qurban Ali, father of Sufi saint Haji Waris Ali Shah. Pilgrims from across the country and abroad come to the fair.
Every day pilgrims from far and wide come to Barabanki's Deva Sharif to pay obeisance at the shrine, but when the fair starts, gradually there is no place left to even set foot.
Every day, the gate of the shrine is closed from 12 noon to 2 pm and from 10 pm to 4 am after which people can visit the shrine of Sufi saint Haji Waris Ali Shah.
It is believed here that whatever you ask for from your heart, you get it. We have been coming here for the last 10 years. We will stay here for 4-5 days at Baba's shrine. He is Deva Sharif Baba.
People of all religions and castes from Barabanki district come here to pay their obeisance at the shrine of the Sufi saint who preached that God is the same as Rama.
