Assam TMC president resign Assam Trinamool Congress (TMC) president Ripun Bora on Sunday resigned from the party, claiming that people of the northeastern state consider it a "regional party" of West Bengal and are not ready to accept it as their own.

Letter written to Abhishek Banerjee

Ripun Bora resigned by writing a two-page letter to All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee. Bora said in his resignation letter that Assam TMC has a lot of potential, but several recurring issues have hindered our progress, including TMC being considered as a regional party of West Bengal.

blamed Mamta

Bora, a former Rajya Sabha member, said he had given several suggestions to party supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to make TMC acceptable in Assam, but they were not implemented.

He claimed that he had suggested the need for an Assamese leader at the national level of TMC, declaring Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika's residence in Tollygunge, Kolkata a heritage site and converting the Madhupur Sattra in Cooch Behar into a cultural centre, but nothing happened.

asked for time many times

Despite my repeated efforts to have a meeting with you and our chief Mamata didi to address these concerns over the last one and a half years, I have been unsuccessful, Bora, a former Assam minister, said.

Bora said he has served as the state president of Assam TMC for more than two years and during this period, he interacted extensively with people across the state.
