There was a shootout outside a nightclub. One person died and seven others were injured in the incident. CNN gave this information quoting the police.
According to a statement from the Louisville Metro Police Department, when they arrived at the scene outside the H20 Lounge at 12:47 a.m. (local time), they found two people with gunshot wounds. One of the victims was later pronounced dead.
The second man was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, police said. Later, medical staff said six other victims arrived at area hospitals for treatment after the shooting.
All six people were shot, according to Police Department Public Information Officer Aaron Ellis.
Police did not release any information about the suspect and it was unclear how many people opened fire or what prompted the shooting.
The relationship of the victims, if any, was not immediately known, police said. They said the shooting was still under investigation.
In a separate incident, three people were killed and ten others were injured in a shooting at a grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas on Friday (local time), officials said at a press conference, reports CNN.
According to CNN, Arkansas State Police said the incident happened at the Mad Butcher grocery store around 11:30 a.m. local time.
Public Safety Secretary and Arkansas State Police Director Mike Hager said law enforcement responded immediately to the scene and engaged in a gunfight with the lone suspect. Both officers and the suspect were injured.
There have been a number of mass shootings in the US over the past few weeks, with at least 21 other mass shootings recorded by the Gun Violence Archive since last Friday.
The Gun Violence Archive defines a mass shooting as an incident in which four or more people, excluding the shooter, are shot, CNN reports.
