Delhi News: Delhi's air quality was recorded in the severe plus category on Thursday when the AQI was recorded at 451 at 4 pm. According to the data of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), PM 2.5 is at dangerously high levels in the capital. The Air Quality Index has been recorded in the severe plus category in 32 out of 35 monitoring stations in Delhi.
According to PTI, AQI of 470 has been recorded in some areas. The fourth phase of GRAP is going on in Delhi under which strict measures are taken to control air pollution. Under this, there is a complete ban on construction activities in the capital and there is also a ban on the entry of non-essential trucks which spread pollution. Four categories of GRAP are imposed considering different levels of air quality.
GRAP is applied in these situations
GRAP's stage-1 is applied when the AQI is between 201-300. Stage-2 is applied when the air quality is between 301-400, stage-4 is applied when the air quality crosses 450. On the other hand, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for Friday when dense fog will prevail in the capital. On Thursday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 23 degrees Celsius, which is slightly above normal, while the minimum temperature was five degrees Celsius, which is three degrees below normal.
Cold will increase further in Delhi, IMD alert
IMD scientist Dr. Soma Sen Roy had said in the morning that the temperature in Delhi will fall further due to the western disturbance. IMD had issued an orange alert for Thursday. He said that the western disturbance has brought moisture in the atmosphere. On the other hand, there was dense fog in Ashoka Road, Kushak Road and Maulana Azad Road in the morning.
