In Delhi, a father raped his 11-year-old daughter. In this case, the court has sentenced the father found guilty to rigorous imprisonment for life. Apart from this, a compensation of Rs 12 lakh has also been given to the victim for relief and rehabilitation.

According to news agency PTI, Special Judge Anu Aggarwal sentenced the father, who was convicted under Section 6 of the POCSO Act. In an order given on April 27, the court said that life imprisonment means 'the remaining natural life of the convict'.

'Papa's darling' is an affectionate relationship between father and daughter.

During the court proceedings, Additional Public Prosecutor Arun KV demanded maximum punishment for the accused. The judge said that soon after the death of the 11-year-old victim's mother, the convict sexually assaulted his daughter. He said, "The oft-heard phrase 'Papa ki Ladli' reflects the affectionate relationship between a father and daughter. Then what should the child do when the protector becomes the predator?"

'The child trusts the parents unconditionally'

The court said that a child has unconditional trust in his parents and expects love, affection, and protection from them. It says that when the safe premises of a home are turned into a place of sexual assault, the child has no place to go.

The court gave compensation to the victim

The court said that if the "predator" was the biological father of the child, it would amount to a betrayal of trust and loss of social values. It said such a crime left a long-lasting emotional and psychological impact on the child, who, with such invisible wounds, lost trust in family and friends in general and society in particular. The court has awarded a total compensation of Rs 12 lakh to the victim for relief and rehabilitation.
