Meerut News: After Sambhal, now the electricity department has launched a big campaign against electricity thieves in Meerut and Rampur as well. Several teams of the electricity department have raided the places of electricity thieves in both the areas. This action of the electricity department has created a stir. This morning raid campaign has disturbed the sleep of electricity thieves. Pashchimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited has started a morning raid campaign against electricity thieves. 

14 districts come under PVVNL and MD Isha Duhan has given instructions to take strict action against electricity thieves. In Meerut and Rampur, teams of police, PAC and electricity department officials reached early in the morning to conduct raids. When the meters installed outside the houses were checked, shunt was found in the meters at many places and theft was being done by inserting cables at other places. Seeing heavy police force outside the house early in the morning, the electricity thieves were stunned.

Electricity theft caught at 19 places in Meerut
A campaign was launched against power thieves in Meerut in Lisadi Gate area. Here the team raided 244 houses in Tarapuri, Islamabad, Ahmed Nagar and Shyamnagar localities and found power theft at 19 places. Nine PAC teams were deployed here so that there is no problem in the raid. Teams from Meerut, Noida, Bulandshahr, Hapur and Ghaziabad areas were included in this campaign.

In Meerut's Lisadi Gate area, theft was found at four places by inserting a shunt in the meter, in four houses theft was being committed by inserting a cable directly and in 11 places theft was being committed by inserting a separate cable before the meter. A case has been registered against all of them in the Anti Theft Police Station.

More electricity thieves found in Rampur than Meerut
A campaign was also launched against electricity thieves in Rampur. More electricity thieves were caught here than in Meerut. The electricity department team checked 440 connections here and electricity theft was detected at 65 places. Morning raids were conducted in Shahabad Gate and Pahari Gate areas of Rampur. The electricity department has determined a revenue of Rs 42 lakh here. Here too action was taken in the presence of heavy police force.

This campaign against electricity thieves was kept extremely confidential. In Meerut Zone, Chief Engineer (Distribution) Meerut Zone I, Dheeraj Sinha, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Kumar, Chief Engineer, Electricity Urban Distribution Board-Meerut Prashant Kumar, Executive Engineers Vinod Kumar and Mahesh Kumar, besides a large number of electricity department employees were present with checking equipment. The electricity department determined revenue of 21 lakhs in Meerut.

PVVNL Managing Director Isha Duhan says that our campaign against electricity thieves will continue. We will take strict action and will not spare anyone. Wherever information is coming from, we have sent teams there and instructed them to take strict action.
