Sambhal Jackal Terror: In Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, four people including two women and two young girls were attacked and injured by a wolf in the forest. An elderly woman has been referred to a higher centre for treatment in critical condition, while three are being treated at a local hospital. On receiving the information, Sambhal District Officer Rajender Pensia reached the village on a motorcycle and called a meeting of the forest department, police and administration in the village itself. After seeing the paw marks of the attacking animal in the forest, the District Officer has claimed that the attack was carried out by a jackal or a mad dog.

 

The injured have been given rabies injections and teams of forest department, police and administration have been deployed around the village, as soon as the attacking animal is seen, it will be caught. Villagers say that a wolf has attacked four people including an old woman and two young women in the forest. The villagers are scared of going to the forest. The incident took place in Sheorajpur village of Bahjoi police station area.

The family took the injured woman to Bahjoi CHC for treatment, where after first aid, the woman was referred to a higher center in Aligarh. On Saturday evening, the woman had gone to the field about two hundred meters away from the house, when suddenly a wolf attacked her and injured her. Hearing the noise, the villagers and women who were cutting fodder nearby reached the spot, and the wolf ran away towards the fields.

Apart from Maya Devi, a 45-year-old woman Ramdevi and two teenagers Asha and Chanchal have also been injured. The villagers are scared after the wolf attack. The wolf has attacked four people in this village so far, out of which the condition of a woman remains critical. Ram Beti, a woman who was attacked by the wolf, said that the wolf wanted to drag her into the forest, but I had a sickle in my hand with which I attacked it hundreds of times and only then could I save my life. I have deep wounds on my hand from its claws.

 

DM reached the village as soon as he got the information 

 

On receiving information about women and girls getting injured in a wolf attack in Sheorajpur's Madhaiya, teams from the forest department, police and revenue department also reached the village, and as soon as the information was received, District Officer Rajendra Pensia reached the village on a motorcycle and inspected the spot. Confirming the attack of a wild animal on two women and two children, DM Sambhal Rajendra Pensia said that looking at the footprints of the animal in the forest, it seems that the attack was done by a jackal or a mad dog.

 

The injured are being treated. Forest department and police teams have been deployed in the village, who will stay here and collect information about the wild animal and if the animal is seen then it will be caught. We have held a meeting in the village and the administration team will also be present all around here.
