Adani Defence and Aerospace: Adani Defence and Aerospace, a company of the Adani Group owned by billionaire Gautam Adani, has handed over the second Drishti-10 Starliner surveillance drone to the Indian Navy. This will enhance the ability of India's naval forces to monitor maritime areas and reduce the risk of pirates. Sources familiar with the matter said that Drishti 10 provides the Indian Navy with unmatched capabilities to monitor vast maritime areas. Along with this, it is an unmanned aircraft that can act as a reconnaissance device along with maritime surveillance.
How the second unmanned aerial vehicle was handed over to the Navy
The process of inducting the second unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) into the Navy's maritime operations was initiated at Porbandar in Gujarat. It is a version of the Israeli drone Hermes 900, which is a medium-altitude long-endurance UAV.
What are the features of Drishti-10 Starliner?
The Drishti 10 Starliner drone, manufactured at Adani Defence and Aerospace's Hyderabad plant, is an advanced intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) device. It has a range of 36 hours and a payload capacity of 450 kg. With NATO's STANAG 4671 (Standardised Agreement 4671) affiliation for airworthiness of UAV systems, it is the only all-weather military device. Another feature of this is that it is allowed to fly in both segregated and unconsolidated airspace.
In January this year, the Navy received its first Drishti-10 Starliner
The first Drishti-10 Starliner was delivered to the Indian Navy in January this year. Apart from this, it was supplied to the Indian Army in June. After handing over the first Drishti-10 to the Indian Navy earlier this year, getting the second Drishti-10 in the last month of the year will further enhance the Navy's ability to monitor the sea.
