Amanatullah Khan Reactions: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Okhla in Delhi Amanatullah Khan was arrested by ED on Monday (September 2). After the arrest, he was brought to Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court. Amanatullah Khan said that he has been arrested, what else can he say.

Responding to media queries in court, he said, "These are old charges for which bail has been granted twice before."

The ED on Monday arrested AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan and some others linked to him as part of its money laundering probe. He was detained under the provisions of the PMLA when the agency conducted searches at his residence in the national capital's Okhla area after 6 am, official sources said.

According to PTI sources, during the search, some questions were asked to Amanatullah Khan, but he kept evading and hence he was arrested. After this, he was taken from his house to the ED office in an official vehicle, after which he was produced in the court.

Sources claimed that Khan has ignored at least 10 ED summons since he was last questioned by the agency in the case in April. He kept dodging the summons on one pretext or the other, such as pending law exams or his mother-in-law's medical condition, sources said.

The ED has claimed that Amanatullah Khan earned huge income in cash through illegal recruitment of employees in the Delhi Waqf Board and invested it to purchase immovable properties in the name of his associates.

In a statement, the agency had alleged that there was illegal recruitment of employees in the Waqf Board and illegal personal gains were made by wrongly leasing out Waqf Board properties during Khan's tenure as chairman (2018-2022).
