A shocking incident related to Vande Bharat Express has come to light. A passenger travelling in train number 20666 in Tirunelveli-Chennai Egmore Vande Bharat Express found a worm in the sambar served for breakfast. This breakfast was given to him at Madurai station of the train. He lodged a complaint immediately after leaving Madurai station.
Southern Railway issued a clarification after complaints of worms being found in the sambar served during the journey. The railways also apologised to the passengers and promised strict action against the licensee. According to officials, the onboard manager, chief catering inspector (CIR), chief commercial inspector (CCI) and assistant commercial manager (ACM) inspected the food provided by the Tirunelveli base kitchen managed by Brindavan Food Products.

Investigation revealed that the insect was stuck to the lid of the casserole container. The officials apologised to the passenger, promised strict action against the licensee and offered him food at Dindigul station, which the customer declined.
The packet of contaminated food was given to the Dindigul health inspector for quality assurance. Later, the rest of the food was also tested and it was found that there was no problem in the rest of the food.
A fine of Rs 50,000 was also imposed
The railways said that a fine of Rs 50,000 has been imposed on Brindavan Food Products for negligence and further action is being considered. The statement said that the railways are investigating the incident, the railways are exploring all possibilities related to contaminated food.
Further, the railways assured to provide quality food to passengers and conduct regular inspections to monitor food standards. It also advised to register complaints on Rail Madad system to ensure timely resolution and action.
