A woman gave birth to a baby girl in a train coach at Anand Vihar railway station on Thursday. Railway Protection Force (RPF) inspector Shailendra Kumar said, "We received information about a woman in labour pain in a train going from Anand Vihar to Saharsa. Our woman sub-inspector went there with other staff and the delivery was done with the help of other women present in the coach. Later, an ambulance came and we sent them to the hospital. Both the newborn and the woman are healthy."

RPF sub-inspector Naveen Kumari said that I was on duty when I got the information. A passenger came to me and told me that a woman was about to deliver on platform number seven. After this I called the ambulance. This incident happened at 11:15 last night. I also reached the spot with a woman constable. A woman was lying on the floor in D-9 coach. A woman from Samastipur, Bihar was having labor pains. With the help of a police constable and other women present in the coach, we helped in the delivery and later we sent her to the hospital. 

There was no doctor during the delivery

Naveen Kumari said that the delivery of the woman was done in the train coach itself. There was no doctor present at that time. Currently both Jija and the baby are healthy. The woman has been admitted to a hospital. 

A child has been born in a train before

Earlier, a 28-year-old woman gave birth to a baby girl in the toilet of a running train near Thane in June 2024. The woman was travelling in the two-tier AC coach of Pawan Express with her husband Mohammad Farooq (30) and younger daughter. The Sion residents were going to Darbhanga for a family function. Farooq said that he had got approval from his wife's doctor for this long journey to Darbhanga. A few minutes after the train started, my wife complained of severe pain in her stomach and asked me to go to the toilet with her.
