The escape of convicted prisoner Kalicharan alias Bauwa has created panic in the jail administration. Four police teams are searching for him from Prayagraj to Mahoba, but no clue has been found.A report has been filed against the prisoner in Naini police station. Head warder Balveer Singh, warder Ashutosh Chaturvedi, Abhishek Singh and Brijesh Yadav have been suspended on charges of negligence. This incident has also exposed the security arrangements of the jail. The jail administration suppressed the matter for two days.

Was sentenced to 20 years

24-year-old Kalicharan alias Bauwa is a resident of Kotwali area of ​​​​Mahoba district. On 26 July 2023, he was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 32,000 by the District Court of Mahoba in the case of gang rape of a teenager.

He was brought to Central Jail Naini on March 9, 2024. On Saturday, he was sent for weeding in the field. He escaped by dodging the security personnel. It is being said that the prisoner escaped by jumping over the 20 feet high wall of the jail. When the prisoners were counted in the evening, Kalicharan was found missing.

Four employees were suspended

On Sunday, Jailor Anjani Gupta filed a case of prisoner's escape in Naini police station. After this, the police blocked the entire district and started checking campaign, but nothing was found.According to senior jail superintendent Rang Bahadur Patel, a case has been registered regarding the prisoner's escape. Four employees found guilty prima facie have been suspended. A departmental inquiry is underway.
