
PM Modi will inaugurate India's first vertical lift sea bridge at Rameswaram on April 6. Apart from this, the Prime Minister will also dedicate several other projects to the nation. On the eve of the official program, the Indian Railways also released a video of the new Pamban bridge. The Railway Ministry said, "Pamban Bridge is a great blend of heritage and new technology, which presents a spectacular view. India's first vertical lift railway sea bridge is going to be inaugurated on this Ram Navami." This bridge has been built at a cost of more than Rs 550 crore.
Features of Pamban Bridge
Let us tell you that the Pamban bridge has deep cultural significance. According to Ramayana, "The construction of Ram Setu started from Dhanushkodi near Rameswaram." Let us tell you that this 2.08 km long bridge has been constructed at a cost of more than Rs 550 crore. The new Pamban Bridge is India's first vertical lift railway bridge. The 72.5 meter long bridge can be lifted up to 17 meters, allowing large ships to pass under it. The new bridge is 3 meters higher than the existing bridge, improving maritime connectivity. The bridge is constructed with stainless steel strength, high-grade protective paint and fully welded joints. Special polysiloxane coating protects it from corrosion, ensuring its longevity even in difficult marine environments.
New train service also got green signal
PM Modi will inaugurate the new Pamban railway bridge on April 6. Apart from this, he will flag off the new train service from Rameswaram-Tambaram (Chennai). During this, a coast guard ship will also be flagged off. A release said that PM Modi will visit the famous Ramanathaswamy temple in Rameswaram for darshan and worship at around quarter to one in the afternoon. After this, at around 1.30 pm, he will lay the foundation stone of various rail and road projects worth more than Rs 8,300 crore in Tamil Nadu and dedicate them to the nation.

These projects include laying of foundation stone for four-laning of 28 km long Walajapet-Ranipet section of NH-40 and four-laning of 29 km long Villupuram-Puducherry section of NH-332, 57 km long Poondiyankuppam-Sattanathapuram section of NH-32 and 48 km long Cholapuram-Thanjavur section of NH-36. This bridge has great cultural significance. According to Ramayana, the construction of Ram Setu started from Dhanushkodi near Rameswaram. The new Pamban bridge was constructed by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a public sector undertaking working under the Ministry of Railways.

PM Modi has also given information about this on the social media platform X. In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, "Tomorrow, on 6 April, on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, I am looking forward to being among my brothers and sisters of Tamil Nadu. The new Pamban Rail Bridge will be inaugurated. I will pray at the Sri Arulmighu Ramanathaswamy Temple. Development works worth more than Rs 8300 crore will also be inaugurated or the foundation stone laid."
