76 percent of the country's children and 84 percent of the parents want to spend more time with each other, but smartphones and social media apps are preventing them from doing so. That is why 94 percent of the children want that their parents' smartphones should have only three features like calling, messaging and camera.
Not ready to give up the smartphone habit
Children do not want social media, entertainment and gaming apps to be available on their parents' smartphones. On the other hand, 75 percent of parents are worried that their children are not able to build meaningful relationships with the family due to smartphone addiction. But both children and parents are not ready to give up the smartphone habit.
Parents and children spend hours on the phone
This has been revealed in a study conducted by smartphone manufacturer Vivo and Cyber Media Research on the impact of smartphones on parent-child relationships. According to the survey report, parents spend more than five hours on average on a daily basis while children spend four hours on their smartphones. Both spend most of this time on social media and entertainment apps.
Smartphone addiction is bad, kids said- can't leave it
During the survey, 76 percent of parents and 71 percent of children admitted that they cannot live without smartphones. 64 percent of children believe that they are badly addicted to smartphones. More than 60 percent of children said that if their friends leave social media apps, they too can stop using social media apps.
Smartphones are increasing the chances of rift in relationships
One in three children even said that these social media apps should not have been invented. Geetaj Channa, Corporate Strategy Head, Vivo India, says that technology should be used to bring positive change and make life easier, but smartphones can become a hindrance to real-life relationships.
