Jerusalem: Israeli forces continued to advance toward the center of Rafah. Israeli forces shelled Palestinians for a second day overnight Monday, killing at least 37 Palestinians. Amid a three-week ground war in Rafah, Israeli tanks armed with armored vehicles and machine guns were seen Tuesday for the first time near the Al-Awsa Mosque in the center of Rafah.

Operation continues in Rafah region: Israeli army

At the same time, the Israeli army, without commenting on this, said that its operation in the Rafah region is continuing. Since the Israeli army targeted Rafah since the beginning of May, about 1 million people have had to flee from here. These people had already been displaced from various areas of Gaza and had come to this area adjacent to Egypt in search of safety.

45 people died on Sunday

According to local health officials in Gaza, the Israeli army had carried out airstrikes in the same area on Sunday as well, killing 45 Palestinians. Israel carried out these airstrikes in response to Hamas' missile attack. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu had called it a tragic incident and ordered an investigation into it. But another attack was carried out on Monday night in Tel al-Sultan in northwestern Rufah, killing 16 Palestinians.

Israel has said it was a limited action on the Gaza-Egypt border. But locals reported heavy shelling throughout the night. Abdel-Rahman Abu Ismail, a resident of Gaza City and sheltering in Tel al-Sultan in Rafah since last December, described it as a night of terror. He said he heard the sound of fighter jets and drones throughout the night and into Tuesday morning.

America and other allies of Israel warned

The US and Israel's other allies have warned Israel against killing innocent people in this manner. On Friday, the International Court of Justice ordered a halt to the attacks on Rafah. But these orders are not binding.

Israel PM again took this pledge

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed that the Israeli army will destroy Hamas in Rafah. By exerting pressure, he will ensure the release of people held hostage by Hamas terrorists on October 7. More than 100 people are still in the custody of Hamas.
