Amid the ongoing allegations of sexual harassment in the Malayalam film industry, senior Congress leader Simi Rosebel John has made serious allegations against fellow leaders including opposition leader VD Satheesan and claimed that only those close to the leadership get opportunities in the party. She has claimed that a situation like 'casting couch' in the film industry is also happening inside the Congress party.

Responding to a media query, Rosebel John said that many people who had negative experiences have shared their stories with her, and she has a lot of evidence that will come out at the right time. She mentioned giving advice to those who complained to her.
