Varanasi. There was a lot of pushing and shoving between the workers of Indian National Student Organization and Samajwadi Student Sabha and the police on Monday at Gurudham Square. When the workers who were going to submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister's parliamentary office in Jawahar Nagar demanding cancellation of NEET and dissolution of NTA were stopped, they started sloganeering and staging a sit-in protest.
The police caught them with great difficulty and made them sit in police vehicles. During this time there was chaos around the intersection and vehicular traffic was stopped.
The police force was already alert
In view of the pre-announced program of the workers, a large number of police and PAC personnel were deployed at Gurudham crossing before the parliamentary office. The road leading to Jawahar Nagar Colony was closed by barricading.
When the activists led by Rishabh Pandey, president of the Indian National Student Organization, moved towards the Parliamentary office from Gurudham Square at 3 pm, the police stopped them. The activists sat on a dharna there and started raising slogans against the central government. When the police tried to remove them from there, a scuffle began.
The activists tried to go beyond the barricades. The police used all their force to catch them. The activists and ACP Bhelupur Dhananjay Mishra along with many policemen fell on the road and started fighting.
The workers submitted a memorandum to the ADCP
The number of policemen was more. They picked up the workers by holding their hands and feet and forcibly made them sit in the police van. After this, after being persuaded, the workers went back after handing over a memorandum addressed to the local MP to ADCP Kashi Zone Neetu.
