New Delhi. Delhi Customs on Wednesday (May 29) detained two people at the Delhi airport in connection with the gold smuggling case. One of them has been identified as Shiv Kumar Prasad, who claimed to be the PA of Congress leader Shashi Tharoor.
A total of 500 grams of gold has been recovered from them. The customs team is investigating the matter. The department is trying to find out whether the accused were smuggling gold earlier as well or this is the first time.
It is noteworthy that earlier the Customs Department had arrested two accused smuggling gold at Delhi's IGI Airport. 1430 grams of gold was recovered from their luggage. The Customs officer said that two passengers had arrived in Delhi by boarding an Air India flight at Terminal 3 of IGI Airport.
When their belongings were checked, 1430 grams of gold was recovered from them. This gold was hidden in paste. The value of this gold is said to be around 91 lakh 45 thousand rupees. After this the accused were arrested.
