In the early morning hours, a massive explosion occurred at a chemical factory in the Malikpur area of Faisalabad district, located 130 kilometers from Lahore in Punjab province. At least 15 people were killed and several others injured in the boiler explosion, who were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Building collapsed due to explosion
Faisalabad Deputy Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar told reporters that a massive explosion in a boiler at a chemical factory in the Malikpur area caused nearby buildings, including one to collapse.
Rescue operation underway
The Deputy Commissioner stated that rescue teams have so far recovered 15 bodies from the debris and transported seven injured to the hospital. There are fears that more people may be trapped beneath the rubble. Rescue teams are working to clear the debris. The entire district machinery is engaged in the rescue operation.
Meanwhile, Punjab Police Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar directed that full assistance be provided to Rescue 1122, Fire Brigade and all concerned agencies.
CM expressed grief
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the boiler explosion at a chemical factory, extended her condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families and sought a detailed report from the Faisalabad Commissioner about the incident.
